Orlando Prophecy Summit: Behind the Scenes

The above link is to a write-up that I did following the Pike’s Peak Prophecy Summit of July 2013.  I am extremely grateful to Natalina at Extraordinary Intelligence for giving me that opportunity and platform for that. What you will read here is in many ways an extension and continuation of themes from that original piece.

This write up is about the Orlando Prophecy Summit that was hosted by the Prophecy In The News ministry. It was held at the Sea World Renaissance on March 28-31 which was Friday through Sunday.

Thursday March 27th was travel day to the conference for many of us. The conference did not officially kick off until 2pm EDT the following day on Friday so we all had some time to rest and get our bearings. Unofficially, things kicked off right away.

By fortunate happenstance after I checked in I went in to one of the hotel restaurants for dinner and found myself sharing a table with no less than LA Marzulli and his lovely wife Peggy, L.A.’s business partner Richard Shaw, and Bill Salus. Needless to say that meal was highlighted by very interesting conversation where I was mostly in “fly on the wall” mode.

When the meal was finished, we all were leisurely walking and ran into Doc Marquis and his assistant Nathaniel Earl in the hallway. The next thing I knew, we all got into a conversation with Doc that could have easily been expanded into a full fledged panel concept. Doc was even improvising and doing air drawings of diagrams on the wall. I wish someone had taken out their Iphone and captured this.

During this same time an impromptu worship service broke out in a large foyer area in front of this restaurant.  The sound carried throughout the entire large lobby area of this hotel.  It was a great way to unofficially and properly kick the entire event off and set the tone wonderfully.

The next morning was Friday March 28 and the fun continued right at breakfast down in the same restaurant as the night before. This time I found myself at a table with Doug Woodward and his assistant Patricia rightly nicknamed “Scully” to Woodward’s “Mulder”, along with Doug Krieger and Dene McGriff, DW’s co-authors on the Final Babylon book.

For this gathering I was more quiet since I did not have my coffee quota in me but it was fun to wake up and listen to this group of speakers and several personal friends of theirs get into more interesting dialogue. As you can see I’ve already cited two examples of how a person can be at a conference like this, going about their business, and with little to no effort get into some fun and interesting situations. That’s the beauty of it.

I wasn’t able to get pictures with everyone that I wanted to but that’s the nature of the beast. I’m amazed I was able to even get what I did on my aging digital camera.  What follows are some of my best pictures from the conference with commentary and anecdotes.

I took a few shots like these just to give people an idea of how large the main area was where speaker tables were set up. If I had been able to, I would have panned left to right to give a better idea, but I think this shot is sufficient. This was actually a very light crowd. There were many times where this area was crammed with people to a standstill.

To the right you can see doors to the outside and to the left are the entrances into the main ballroom area where the streaming presentations came from. The Marzullis had first table to the right when you walked into the conference area. In front to the right at the table facing downwards is Peggy Marzulli, LA’s wife.  I couldn’t believe how much hectic action she was able to handle without breaking stride.

This is an overhead shot of the main ballroom area close to a full house. Many times it was standing room only. People who opted for the streaming/on demand from Prophecy In the News should immediately recognize this. My camera was acting up a little bit here and if I had a wide lens the picture would have provided more impact.

If memory serves me correctly, this room could seat approximately 1500 people. We had 2000 people so you can start to quickly appreciate one of the reasons why the scheduling was such that two alternate speakers would be speaking at the same time as well as anything happening in the main ballroom.

Chuck Missler and Gary Stearman doing a Q&A session in one of the breakout rooms. This session could have gone for several hours. This is an example of deliberate scheduling in an attempt to provide something compelling to run against the main ballroom. This QA was taking place at the same time the high demand Mark Biltz Blood Moon message was. As intriguing as the Blood Moons may be, I did not regret attending this rare treat instead.

I was able to somehow sneak up in that huge ballroom and my camera seriously overachieved to get this shot. I’m proud of it! I wish I had been able to get a picture taken of myself with Pastor Stearman and his lovely wife Doris but it just didn’t come together. They are two very special people in service to the Lord.

Right to left: Doc Marquis, yours truly, and Doc’s assistant Nathaniel. I want to know where those two got those t-shirts. I had to keep my eye on these two constantly with the kind of mischief I know that they are capable of. Of course I’m joking…mostly. As usual, Doc did some killer presentations and had seemingly endless energy and time for everyone and everything.

See what I mean about Doc and mischief? What a troublemaker!  🙂

The father-son radio team of Douglass and Joe Hagmann were indeed guest at the conference and were greeted warmly, made a ton of contacts, and had a lot of fun. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture with them but I did get a chance to talk with them for a few minutes it and thank them for all that they do.

Another shot of Doc with the Hagmanns. This is a typical example of the “something impromptu might break out here” motif.

It’s always a treat to see and hear Bill Salus. Bill is a powerhouse when it comes to Biblical scholarship and study. I was especially glad that there was some down time where several of us got to chat with Bill on a little more intimate level than a 2000 person conference would normally allow.

Shortly after the conference was concluded, Bill was going to be making contact with Dr. Hormoz Shariat of Iran and running through some prophetic material out of the Bible specifically relevant to Iran and especially this Elam situation out of Jeremiah 49:34-39. By the time you all read this, this event will have already occurred.

We were all very excited to hear of this at the conference. The reason this was so exciting is because Dr. Hormoz Shariat is often referred to as the Billy Graham of Iran and for good reason. Iran is currently experiencing a revival of sorts despite all of its many issues since 1979 and Dr. Shariat’s ministry is a key component in that mix.

Jeremiah 49:34-39 specifies the Elam area. This is currently the area in modern day Iran where the Bushehr Reactor is. It’s considered all but a given that when Israel is finally forced to take action to prevent Iran from using nuclear weapons that Bushehr will be a top target. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the consequences and fallout will be when that reactor is attacked and destroyed. Salus’s working theory is that Jeremiah 49:34-39 could be describing all of that.

It is conceivable that attack will be the first domino that falls for everything else to come afterwards. Who knows for sure?  Psalm 83, Ezekiel 38, and so forth. Some of these prophecies like Isaiah 17 (Syria) and Isaiah 19 (Egypt) *could be* in early stages or slow process even now.

Bill will be going into many of these things in further detail in a new book that he hopes to release during the summer of 2014. As it was he went into some detail during the course of the conference and as usual no one can be dogmatic about any of these sorts of things but Bill does his homework, documents himself to the nines, and makes a very compelling argument. The bottom line is we must keep a close eye on the Middle East and especially God’s prophetic time clock: Israel.

S. Douglas Woodward is the man. It is always a pleasure to correspond with Doug and seeing him in person is especially fun.

Did you notice his tie? Good. Mission accomplished. 🙂   That tie has the name of his current book and one that is a must read. In short: The book’s thesis is that Ancient Aliens is today’s Gnosticism and tackles that and all that goes with it from a Biblical stance and fits into latter days Bible prophecy.  Doug is one of my favorite authors and researchers. He has an uncanny gift for being able to sift through even some of the most outrageous nonsense and find the one or two nuggets of salient information and make sense out of it. From there he is able to apply and match those items up against the Scriptures. The first morning of the conference I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant with him and his Final Babylon co-authors Doug Krieger and Dene McGriff. I also got to meet Doug’s assistant Patricia who is nicknamed “Scully” in relation to Doug’s “Mulder.”  If you are even remotely familiar with the kind of material Doug gets into it makes perfect sense. There were a few other people at the table as well so it was a lively bunch. I normally am not a morning person but needless to say that conversation with all of those people along with several cups of coffee was extremely riveting and stimulating.

Russ Dizdar, yours truly, and his lovely wife Shelly Dizdar. I love this family and appreciate the very challenging ministry they are involved in. They need your prayers and support. This was my second time meeting them personally although I have been grateful to be able to keep in touch with them and tabs on the ministry thanks to social media and other outlets. As busy as they are, somehow they always manage to find time for everyone.

Sharon K. Gilbert, yours truly, and her husband Derek Gilbert. When you meet them it’s like you have known them your entire life and I certainly count them as dear friends. This is the second time we have met personally. The first time was at the Pike’s Peak conference last July detailed in the link at the top of this article.

It was exciting to see Derek get an opportunity to give a presentation in the main ballroom. It just so happened that his was the last message to close out the conference and I couldn’t have imagined a better way to end it. He turned a lot of heads.

Derek’s message was about how this awesome technology we all enjoy and are spoiled by unfortunately has a very serious consequence and downside so far as the control and Big Brother angle goes and how the transhumanists are using this technology in their deluded bid for immortality. A lot of it isn’t even sinister in intent necessarily but ultimately can and will be used that way.

Transhumanism is nothing more than the “ye shall be as gods” lie that Satan told Eve way back in the Garden of Eden all hidden by slick technology. It’s a vain and empty hope and is the closest thing to eschatology that atheists have.

Many people know of him and his wife Sharon thanks to their radio shows PID Radio and View From the Bunker. What some people may not know is that both of them are also excellent public speakers (and singers!) as well. Derek is someone that I and a number of other people definitely could see him in full-time ministry of some sort and this message would be my easiest first exhibit towards making that case.  Derek already has the rightly deserved reputation for stellar interviews and uncanny knack for bringing out the best in any guest he has on his show. Several of the speakers at the conference came away saying that they were amazed at how well prepared he was and that it was “the best interview they ever had.” That quoted reaction is nothing new.

It was fascinating to hear how Derek and Sharon’s presentations complemented one another and came at some of the same subject matters from completely different angles. It really was like weaving a tapestry that goes towards a big picture. The two of them often joke about “sharing one brain” in response to this effect.

Now if we can only figure out a way to get Sam T. Dachsund in the mix.  🙂

Last but certainly not least. Peggy Marzulli and of course her husband L.A. who is really on the cutting edge of some very serious and important research and yours truly on the right.  L.A. had some killer presentations and caused quite a few jaws to drop. He “set his hair on fire” as the refrain went.

During one of his segments, they deliberately had to cut off the live streaming because the information was extremely sensitive. Suffice it to say, when that information goes public with some more documentation behind it will turn heads. This is another family in ministry that I count as dear friends.

I have to give special mention to Richard Shaw who managed to escape my camera. Richard Shaw is LA Marzulli’s business partner, producer, and video genius extraordinaire on the Watchers series. This would be the first time many people including myself would hear him in a public speaking situation. I am uncertain if this was the first time he had ever done public speaking but considering how well he did it is hard for me to imagine so.  He had great enthusiasm for his subject matter and that enthusiasm was infectious. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to meet him and have some time on the side to get into a real discussion with him.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and frankly I’m counting on that. I hope that these photos on my humble and aging digital camera make up for any deficiencies in my writing and tell the tale.

Expanded review of Lying Wonders of the Red Planet by S. Douglas Woodward

My original review was posted on Amazon: https://banditzlayer.wordpress.com/2014/02/24/my-amazon-review-of-lying-wonders-of-the-red-planet-by-s-douglas-woodward/

This next link is my review to L.A. Marzulli’s Watchers 7 DVD and Further Evidence companion book:

The reason I am linking to that review is because Lying Wonders of the Red Planet by S. Douglas Woodward dovetails and overlaps on several subjects and broad themes that Marzulli’s work does albeit from a different angle. There are a number of comments I made in that review that could also apply to this book in a general sense.

Both of these recent works come together clearly from different angles to attack the same deception setup that has been clearly occurring in our society for a lot longer than a lot of people have noticed or would like to believe.

I can highly recommend this book to anyone regardless of worldview or views on the topics covered in this book. The reasons I can do that is because Doug Woodward has a gift of being able to present every viewpoint with accuracy and balance while making the distinction in regards to his own personal views. Woodward always comes well documented with a high degree of scholarship for any project he tackles. I hate to use the cliché “fair and balanced” but I really can say that about Woodward’s approach from everything I have ever seen and heard from him. Woodward is able to employ a wry sense of humor and deft wit during the course of what can be at times dark and disturbing material.
The thesis of this book sets out to prove that the current Ancient Aliens phenomenon is today’s gnosticism. Taken at face value, that is a deceptively simple statement because to prove that thesis requires 150 years worth of backtracking and documenting the entire alien mythos that has permeated the culture and specifically the fascination with and focus on Mars in helping to perpetuate that narrative no matter what.

For example: Which delusion is capable of bringing together the jihadist Muslim and the orthodox Jew? What lie would cause most people to agree to worldwide government, with an international currency? Something much more terrifying would have to be in play here. Perhaps a threat from supposed “aliens”?  World leaders have openly posited that idea time and again right on through present day. Do some of them know something we don’t or at least think they do? I certainly agree with others that contend that we have been in the process of a “soft disclosure” so far as any alien/UFO concept goes. This sheds light on Scripture such as Matthew 24:24 which, in context, is describing the time period leading up to the Second Coming of Christ.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

It is disturbing to ponder just what sorts of things it would take to potentially deceive any believer in the Lord Jesus. What would it take?   This book attempts to answer at least part of that question.

The lie referred to here is described in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 as follows:

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Woodward’s book examines the social and cultural conditioning that we have seen through media and eerily prescient telegraphing over the years in leading science fiction materials. He also investigates the clear occult backgrounds of some of these concepts having to do with Mars which overlap into every other aspect. He engages everything from a theological vantage point with open Bible close at hand.  Nothing escapes being checked against God’s Word. This book focuses on just how much of a predominant factor the planet Mars has been and continues to increasingly be in fostering and promoting this narrative.

Woodward covers the gambit on both secular and Christian sides and finds the common denominators that clearly should send up red flags of alarm. Most likely, they will probably “find” something on Mars in the near future that will lend itself to a “full disclosure” event.
Here is a sampling of some of the items that get mentioned during the course of the book: The Face on Mars which has been prominently featured in media even before it was discovered thanks to Jack Kirby of Marvel Comics who was apparently attached to the CIA. This alone has ramifications to ponder. Is there a secret space travel program known by at least the USA and the Russians? A number of sincere people seem to think so, but why? Is it mind control, real, or something else? Toss in Tesla, Marconi, Jack Parsons, NASA, The Collins Elite, Hollywood, and a wide assortment of luminaries from past and present and what you have here in total is, as Bob Ulrich from Prophecy in the News referred to it, “the X-Files injected with truth serum!”

I can’t beat that description. The truth serum, of course, being God’s Word the Holy Bible.

One key element that drives several concepts in this book is the unknown of when Lucifer actually fell and became Satan. This is the kind of information the Bible does not spell out explicitly.

This book makes a valiant attempt to tackle that subject during the course of engaging its overall thesis. When Satan and his cast of angels rebelled it very likely shook the cosmos. There may very well have been a war of sorts. There was fallout and collateral from such an event. During the course of that event, was Mars one of their ancient outposts? Was Mars a moon for an outpost on a supposed planet Rahab, the remnants of which may be our asteroid belt of today? Did all of this happen before Adam and Eve were created? The reference to Rahab being Psalm 89:10:

“Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that I slain; thou has scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.”

Who or what is Rahab? If that kind of intrigue appeals to you then this book is for you. We know from the Scriptures that the Prince of the Power of the Air is Satan. We see monuments and other oddities all over the Earth that can only be aligned properly with the stars if you are looking at them from up in the sky. Angels have far less limitations than human beings so it’s hardly a stretch to imagine them coming and going in space or wherever they want.

The Scripture I’m referring to is Ephesians 2:2-3 quoted here for your convenience and context:

2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Some responsible speculation is not a bad thing but great care should be taken here while we hold fast to our Bibles. Doug Woodward certainly does this while mentioning these concepts so even if I have a few niggling areas of disagreement potentially it’s hardly an offense or a test of orthodoxy.

It may sound strange to apply this description to a nonfiction book but I can’t help it: This book is a fun yarn. It is enjoyable to read despite some occasionally dark and disturbing subject matter. It is obvious from reading it that Woodward himself enjoyed writing it.
I highly recommend visiting Doug Woodward’s website: http://faith-happens.com/
Here you will be able to find more information and more research in any number of areas.

Recently Doug made available all of his PowerPoint slides from his Prophecy in the News Orlando conference presentations here: http://faith-happens.com/orlando-powerpoints/ Simply use the password “jerusalem” without the quotes to access whatever interests you. Relevant to this book I would recommend giving his “Close Encounters of a Fourth Kind” and “Mars and the Evidence of a Pre-Adamic Civilization” slides close attention.

I am very eager to see what Doug Woodward’s next project is.  Stay tuned!

Prophecy In the News: The Nephilim Theory

This is a banner and reference show. For the second time in about a month, GEB http://www.gebamerica.com/ pulled the censor card and did not air this on the night of December 28, 2013 at 11pm Eastern as they should have. They had no reason to censor this any more than they did the “Watchers 7 part 2” show from several weeks ago. I, for one, am becoming increasingly alarmed at this blatant censorship on part of the ORU station and I think it merits scrutiny and a spotlight.

This show takes ALL the scuttlebutt, criticism, legit questions, and everything in between and boils it all down to the salient substance and addresses all of it in a fair, gracious, and balanced fashion. They go to bat here for a lot of folks in ministry right now.  In light of numerous Bible passages like Luke 21 and Matthew 24 among others, it’s very important that the Church studies and has answers for what’s clearly a growing set of supernatural phenomena that the enemy is using for a growing deception.

How do we as Christians believe in all the miracles and clearly supernatural occurrences in the Bible but all of a sudden we flip the switch off in the here and now to the point a number of us apparently want to keep our heads in the sand and attack those that are trying to warn others about what’s going on?  That is the sort of thing I have seen that continues to give the mocking and scoffing component of 2 Peter 3:3 a new dimension of meaning.

What do people really think it means when Jesus Himself warned that it would be like both the days of Lot and Noah before His Second Coming?   Those are two very specific and distinct times in human history and in no good way.  If we really believe we are in the season before His return then it’s high time to wake up and get real.  My family and I are very grateful to Prophecy in the News and the wonderful folks in ministry associated with it that have had the courage to follow God’s calling in a very challenging and difficult area of study.

I think this is one of the most important shows PITN has done in a while and it needs to be shared far and wide.

Book Review: The Final Babylon

Students of the Bible and particularly Bible Prophecy cannot afford to leave any stone unturned in their studies just because it might ruffle their patriotic feathers or demolish some preconceived notion. The subject is too important. The Final Babylon, written by authors Douglas W. Krieger, Dene McGriff, and S. Douglas Woodward, is one such book requiring this sort of open-mindedness. Even if you totally disagree with the arguments presented in the book, you will still come away challenged and edified. You can’t lose. Hence, at the outset, I challenge you to take it up. The scholarship is evident throughout. This book is a most impressive effort and a very good read.

So what are we dealing with in The Final Babylon? Probably the biggest issue is simply this: Is America mentioned in Bible prophecy? I am unsure as to what the official score might be on this, but it has to be one of the leading questions amongst Christians today and perhaps a growing number of non-Christians as well.

I’ve got some bad news for you potentially: Yes, contrary to popular evangelical opinion, America may well be in Bible prophecy – even in a very prominent role. Unfortunately, it may be wearing the black hat. This could be an example where the answer has been right in front of our noses the whole time. Due to our patriotism, we had a blind eye.

That, in a nutshell, is the thesis of the new book The Final Babylon. This book has already rattled a few cages and continues to challenge a number of well-established viewpoints on Bible prophecy. However, the ideas are presented in a fair, thorough, scholarly, and gracious manner. Prepare to be have your current view stretched. Prepare to have your life agenda challenged. Prepare to have YOUR cage rattled by experts who know what they are talking about.

Below is a link to a written dialogue between L.A. Marzulli and The Final Babylon’s three authors. It is the best overview of the entire subject and concept I have seen so far. I highly recommend you read this to get a good handle on the most controversial aspects of their thesis. Noted friend, author, and film maker Marzulli did not lob any softballs with his prodding questions either. Check out the document here:

I was fortunate enough to meet the authors in person back in late July at Prophecy in the News’s Pike’s Peak Prophecy Conference (in Colorado Springs amidst the foothills of the Rockies). You can read about my Pike’s Peak adventure here: http://extraordinaryintelligence.com/pikes-peak-prophecy-summit-behind-the-scenes/

The reason I refer to that travel log here is because my anecdotes regarding the Krieger, McGriff, and Woodward provide a bit more insight into their personalities as well as the premises of their presentations. Furthermore, given the book was released at the Colorado Springs conference those of us attending (about a thousand in all) were the first wave of people to get our hands on the book along with the nifty bonus of having them signed by the authors. We also had the opportunity to talk directly with them and ask a bunch of tough questions in our own right, all of which were generously and graciously answered usually with a surprising sense of humor. . They spent considerable time at their book table, on the floor on conference sessions, and also during official Q&A sessions recorded for DVD (now available at Prophecy in the News’ website here – see www.prophecyinthenews.com). Generally speaking, anyone attending the Pike’s Peak conference would be both eager and able to access the insights of this book.

I am familiar with Doug Woodward’s work through his website, his five other books, and his frequent appearances on the weekly Prophecy in the News telecast. I have come to appreciate his writing style, his approach, and especially his fair and even-keeled manner on any subject he tackles. Doug is a very meticulous and thorough researcher. In my opinion, he’s one of the best in the field. I am always eager to see what he might be working on next. Having read both of Woodward’s Power Quest books previously, I suspected they were leading up to a crescendo of sorts, so I wasn’t really surprised when I learned of this most recent project and its primary thesis. Considering the content, this book might have been called Power Quest 3, although the scope of The Final Babylon transcends what that hypothetical title implies.

I was not familiar with Woodward’s co-authors before reading The Final Babylon, so I made a point before the conference of visiting their website http://www.the-tribulation-network.com/ to read up a bit and get a sense of where they were coming from. After reading a number of papers at TribNet (as they nickname it), it was plain to see how these authors brought complementary theological concepts into play. Additionally, all three authors bring different professional specialties and real-life experiences to the table in addition to their own Biblical scholarship and three lifetimes of study.

As I read through the book, I found the authors don’t necessarily agree on everything. In fact this is one of the book’s strengths in the sense that “iron sharpens iron” – their primary perspective seems enhanced despite their differing positions on certain points (notably the timing of the rapture). In light of the weighty subject matter, getting three heads together is no easy task. It is a lesson in how Christians can disagree on some points but still build a strong consensus on a matter they deem vital to present to the believing community

As I stated above (in the linked “EI” piece about the conference), their table was a fun spot to visit, becoming a frequent stop for many attendees. The three men are clearly good friends and were smiling and enjoying the discussions despite the seriousness of the subject matter. This conviviality was present in their lectures and informal discussions at the conference as well as within the covers of their book.

The overall thesis of their current work is one with which very few American evangelicals will find comfort. The authors candidly admit they mean to ruffle a few feathers. However, perhaps no three people would be more pleased than they to be proven wrong, since their assertions are often disturbing. This humble attitude should be kept in mind when you are reading the book, because their arguments (and their documentation) will uncover numerous points that will challenge your pride in American achievement – at least in the political and corporate world within the USA for the past 60 years or so.

I say this, because I am often disappointed with the hostility I’ve seen directed towards their thesis including a few attacks on the authors themselves. People that have solid arguments do not need to resort to personal attacks and negative innuendo – especially people professing to be Christians. Once such attackers resort to emotional diatribe, you can be sure they are far less sure of their position than their sniping suggests! (Remember the admonitions in Galatians 5:22-23 and 1 Corinthians 13 supplying the proper instructions for Christians to deal with one another in love.) It is worth pointing this out in this context since I have noticed recently how these attacks are increasing. This continues to be a heartfelt concern of mine for, not too long ago, I felt prompted me to write the following exhortation. See my thoughts at https://banditzlayer.wordpress.com/2013/10/10/gossip-slander-deceit-backbiting-and-talebearing/

I will offer this assessment here: having prayerfully considered the book as a whole, when considered from several angles I honestly don’t know how their thesis can be proven wrong on their primary points.. There is no question that the Antichrist will have had much of his entrance into world prominence paved by the efforts of the United States. It seems plain enough the process of laying the groundwork for his future kingdom is underway in full force right now.

And yet, I admit some misgivings as I dived into this book which I must explain. On one hand, I was enthusiastic for I knew I would see solid scholarship and enjoy a great read. I anticipated I would be stretched by the challenge of America’s possible place in Bible prophecy. Consequently, I expected it to be a solid book and enjoyable as a good book on Bible prophecy often is – it reaffirms my faith. On the other hand, I have to admit that I also went into this wary of the “America is Babylon” argument simply because it has been done before – and much of that prior work was both sensationalist and sloppy. However, since there have also been responsible Biblical scholars who were at least sympathetic to the notion if not outright in favor of it, I began with a “let’s keep an open mind” attitude. By the way, those venerable scholars include no less than Dr. Noah Hutchings of Southwest Radio Church as well as the late J.R Church of Prophecy in the News.

I can understand those who might disagree with the “America is Babylon” thesis. I’m not sure I fully agree with it myself. I have personally believed for many years that America will be part of an even bigger empire under the banner of the New World Order. Most everyone in the prophetic community seems to agree with that assessment. Currently the USA spearheads the move toward “globalism” (so-called) for at least the last one hundred years. Consider Woodrow Wilson’s League of Nations; John D. Rockefeller’s United Nations; and last but not least, The Federal Reserve’s inception at Jekyll Island, GA, by a number of notable (if not notorious!) wealthy American elite – members of the “international bankers” which cross national boundaries to make a buck. These developments are all thanks to America’s political and financial plutocrats. We can clearly see the evidences of this coming New World Order all around us. And, as I said, acknowledging that the USA supplies this globalist leadership doesn’t spur much debate: America certainly occupies the driver’s seat.

Despite whether or not the book provides the right emphasis on the role of America vis-à-vis the New World Order, The Final Babylon may very well be one of the most important Bible prophecy books I have ever read in my thirty years of being a Christian. I have read many. I don’t make this judgment lightly. It is that challenging, provocative, and well documented. Timing is everything. Given the changes we’ve seen in America just since 9-11 and the clear acceleration of the prophetic time clock, especially considering the well-publicized tensions in Israel and the Middle East, a fresh and profound assessment of the USA’s place in the grand scheme of things is most needed. This is a critical juncture for America and for the planet. Many authorities and academics in the secular world know it, too. Given the lateness of the hour, you could certainly do far worse than read The Final Babylon as soon as you can get your hands on a copy.

The most sobering section in the book has to be the chapter that covers the rise to power of Hitler and how the church in Germany was completely duped by him. Christians were hoodwinked despite whether they were Protestant or Catholic. But the reason this chapter is so sobering and chilling lies in the fact that similar conditions exist in America right now and have for some time. Religious leaders want to impress secular leadership. Political leaders want to engender support among America’s faith communities. An alliance that promises “peace and quiet” instead of conflict such as we’ve seen between “Tea Partyers” and “Progressives” – may become the order of the day. Compromises in religious liberty are likely so that everyone can co-exist and “just get along.” That worries me.

Another compelling point: If you believe that the Lord will return within the next 30 years or so (as I and the authors do), then the current geo-political conditions in the world would most likely continue as is – meaning the USA will remain in the leadership role it holds today. For another nation or collection of nations to wrest control from America, a number of unlikely and large-scale changes would be necessary. In short, the world as we know it would have to be drastically altered. If you think about it, the time required for the United States to be replaced as the current leader of the New World Order (by the European Union or any other country) would take many decades, if not a century or more. Just considering how many biblical prophecies have already been or are currently being fulfilled makes that scenario pretty implausible.

There are numerous references made throughout the book to research done by Chris Pinto, Tom Horn, and Cris Putnam that help to support the core arguments of the book. Taken in total, the mountain of evidence paints an unmistakable picture of America as the “launching pad” for the Antichrist. Likewise, the book draws upon work done over the years by Gary Stearman and J.R. Church from Prophecy in the News. While reading The Final Babylon, J. R. Church’s Guardians of the Grail and Bloodline of the Antichrist books came to my mind on more than one occasion. Gary Stearman’s writings on Mystery Babylon also are supportive of the book’s thesis. To some degree, these all had their part in laying the groundwork for The Final Babylon. In the same vein, there is research mentioned in the books Petrus Romanus and Exo Vaticana (books co-authored by Tom Horn and Cris Putnam) which is referenced by Krieger, et al, which, while coming from a different place, still lends support to the thesis too. I also strongly recommend Chris Pinto’s documentaries about America. They too are mentioned prominently.

While The Final Babylon uses a good deal of logic and reference to the current world economic and political situation, it is not without biblical support. The authors unearthed many scriptures from both the Old and New Testaments to make their case. Many of those scriptures invite closer study. Jeremiah 50, 51, and Isaiah 47, for example, mention “The Daughter of Babylon” while Isaiah 13 mentions Babylon, but a Babylon at the end of history. Isaiah 23 talks of Tyre, but again, at the end of time. These passages name ancient empires which seem to come alive just before the Lord returns; therefore, they certainly do not describe a literal Babylon nor do they directly infer the City of Rome (and the “revived Roman Empire”) is the powerbase for Antichrist as the usual scenario does.

Speaking personally, I have no problems signing off on the idea that America could very well be “Daughter of Babylon.” I’m not sure I’m ready to take it past that, although again I could very well see America as part of something bigger that ends up being “the Final Babylon.” I certainly can see the argument that the fulfillment of Bible prophecy regarding the empire of Antichrist must consider the references to the ancient land of Phoenicia, its most notable city Tyre, and its later colonies including the “merchants of Tarshish.” That is a recurring theme in Old Testament prophecy. This is a critical point.

So, let me speak plainly: Every Christian should read this book! Why? Because if even a fraction of it is true then American Christians have a serious problem to which we had better wake up. If America is the power base of Antichrist then sitting on our hands is not an acceptable position! That’s why the book is ultimately so important. To reiterate: the quality of scholarship and painstaking research have resulted in a thought provoking argument that even disagreeable readers admit they have a hard time dismissing altogether. You cannot read this book and assume that life will be, henceforth, “business as usual.” Don’t let me scare you off. It is enjoyable as well as edifying to study such things because we all see “through a glass dimly” as 1 Corinthians 13:12 says. We yearn to know what the future holds. When studying Bible prophecy, it is important to maintain no more than a loose grip on your beliefs, because the Bible usually gives us only some of the broad “whats” without a lot of “hows.” By that I mean, we can’t necessary conclude “how we get from point A to point B.” In the times in which we now live, new details will emerge that may very well change the complexion of certain concepts. The book has to be viewed as an interpretation of how things might happen in the future based on the premise that the Lord is coming within the next two or three decades. It is based on analyzing current events and the players that exist today. In the same manner, this book provides yet another piece of a very large and complex puzzle. Still, the insights are so beneficial, it requires more than just a casual glance to take it all in and digest. You will likely need to read the book more than once as I do.

I wholeheartedly thank the three authors for following the Lord’s lead and the urgent prodding they no doubt felt to get this important and critical study out.

Finally, this is a Christ-centered book throughout. In other words, the most important message underlying the whole story is, of course, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The authors end the book with a call to action and a prayer of salvation for the reader with a sense of urgency given everything they have presented. I share that sense of urgency.

For further references and information on this book, I highly recommend watching the programs from Prophecy in the News where Gary Stearman interviews Doug Woodward regarding this book. The first program can be seen now here: http://www.prophecyinthenews.com/the-final-babylon/ A second 30-minute session is being released this weekend (October 19-21) and when that show has been uploaded to the PitN website, I will update this review accordingly.

^^ This is Doug Woodward’s site.  If you haven’t done so already, make sure you get on the email list for that one!

^^ Everyone needs to read this.  Everyone needs to read the book, too, even if you dislike the premise or have some disagreements.  It’s an important study and it’s been handled extremely well across the boards.

I’m going to be putting up a review of the book myself before too long.
